One of my favorite cities in the U.S. is Boston, MA. It could be because I am slightly biased towards the Boston Red Sox but I actually do love the city. I have been during the summer, fall, and winter and loved my experience each time. This last time I went was back in January for a Kings of Leon concert, yes I love them that much to travel for them. Since it was pretty chilly, my best friend Cameron and I did not do a whole lot of walking around outdoors. We did explore Harvard a bit but other than that we stuck to staying indoors in coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. We only had two nights there anyway so it wasn't a huge deal. But I was sure to take him to Hennessy's Bar. Some days during the day, there are people playing live Irish folk music. On the weekends during the later evening hours, a house band comes in for live music and the atmosphere is so fun.

Fourth of July weekend 2016 was one of the best weekends of my life because I was fortunate enough to get chosen for Hats Off to Heroes at Fenway Park; again, have I mentioned my love for the Boston Red Sox? They let me stand on the dugout and get put on the big screen!! I got the call in May and chose that weekend since I would have the days off from work. So I began my research for other things to do that weekend besides the game. I had been to Boston before but was not of drinking age and still a VERY novice traveler. I researched best places to eat, drink, nightlife, and things to do during the day. My buddy Stetson came with me to Boston and essentially let me plan what I wanted. I found the Freedom Trail on Pinterest and it was a blast. I will admit it was a bit toasty that day but I am from Florida and live in Georgia so it was not enough to deter me. Anyway, the start of the Freedom Trail is at the Boston Common and you just follow the red brick trail (as opposed to the yellow) taking you on a tour through the city making stops at different historic sites. I enjoy museums and history in general, so if that's your thing, I would definitely recommend it. Plus the tour is only 2.5 miles so if you need your steps for the day, then you got that covered... Something neat about going during that weekend was that there were 4th of July events going on everywhere. While we were having a pint at the Green Dragon Tavern, more about that in a second, I was seated next to a Red Coat. I guess it would be strange if the bar didn't date back to 1654. 1654! Paul Revere was a known patron of the tavern. Just sitting there knowing that such important people in history were probably having a pint in the same seat as me centuries earlier was just mind blowing. Along the Freedom Trail, you stop at places such as Paul Revere's home and the Old North Church where the two famous lanterns were hung, "one if by land, and two if by sea".

Now for food, I like to go to Quincy Market for the clam chowder. Just about anywhere though you can get clam chowder or lobster rolls. Let's just say the seafood in general is fantastic. For breakfast, I found this almost literal hole in wall place called Mike and Patty's. AMAZING SANDWICHES. And for other dinner accommodations, I would suggest The Lookout Rooftop and Bar. The view was spectacular and because it was 4th of July weekend, we got to see fireworks from there... If you're a sports fan or into divey bars, go to The Bleacher Bar. It is directly behind center field with a gate that opens so you can see into the park. Stetson and I found it on a whim just walking around the park. By far, one of the coolest bars I have ever been to. The beer wasn't too expensive and THE VIEW. And just down the road from there was a neat bowling alley that had billiards as well. All in all, there is a whole LOT to do in Boston. Let me know if you're planning a trip up there and I can give you some more recommendations! Go Red Sox, clinched for Soxtober.

Goose, out.
